HLT 003
Ok
the sad truth is we've been searching for this
DAT close to 6 years since Rabbit in the Moon's David
Christophere and San Diego native Sotero
finished the project. Both mixes were done around winter
95 / 96. Despite excitement around the label at the
time, eventually the tracks fell to the wayside under
the age-old excuse of "figuring out what to do
with them." Meanwhile, knowing a good thing when
he heard it, Three made a DAT copy and cut some actetates
to play out. They made their way around a good portion
of the earth via himself, some friends and one west
coast dj who boldly vowed to just put it out on his
own --- off the slate --- if we didn't get our act together.
Fortunately he didn't, but neither did we because both
David and Three misplaced the DAT copies and Sotero
never had one!
So, in the course of moving around his
house after New Years 2002, Three found his DAT buried
deep in a desk drawer, and promptly marched over to
David's to play it for him. After several listens he
had convinced David it was more relevant than ever and
needed to be heard. So by now your thinking "Shut
up and tell me what it sounds like already!!!".
What's old is new in this bizarre fusion of tech-funk
and tape delay that's left heads like H - Foundation,
Doc Martin, Cass and Mazi with
funny looking smiles on their faces. Mind you, after
what we've just revealed we certainly don't expect you
to take our word for it! Not to be outdone, the
Slick and Flash remix by Nick Simpson (Rhythm
Invention, Hazed) and Carl Finlow (Silicon Scally,
Random Factor) couldn't be more timely with its
house vibes sprinkled over deep, electro rhythms.
We sincerely apologize for the delay
call
it growing pains!
