HLT 004
Whether an artist is well known or not is of little
concern to us. In fact, the initial motive for starting
Hallucination Limited was to expose several artists
close to us we felt were well beyond ready for the seasoned
ears of the world. A shining example is one Omar Torres
and the debut of Soulrider.
Originally from Tampa (currently in
Los Angeles) the 28 year-old Soulrider has been a writer
and sound designer for nearly 12 years. His influences
range from such luminaries as Flood,
Quincy Jones, percussionist Luis Stefanel,
80's Detroit / New York funk and late 60's early 70's
improvisational jazz kings like Freddy Hubbard, James
Spalding and John Coltrane.
After years of modestly developing
as a musician, 2003 sees Omar poised to be an accomplished
producer unique unto himself. His current projects reflect
the same diversity of his influences on a grand scale…co-producing,
programming and writing for seminal industrial / electronic
act Skinny Puppy's forthcoming LP, works-in-progress
for experimental labels Warp and Schematic,
the melodic Hologram project on Natural Resource
and now here with the deep house of Soulrider.
With interest from Naked Music,
Guidance Records, musically minded drum 'n bass
icon LTJ Bukem and perhaps most notably Joe
Clausell of Spiritual Life Soulrider opted
to "keep it in the family" and work with Hallucination
Limited. Currently putting the finishing touches on
an album comprised of "Latin and deep house influenced
electronic music"…the two tracks on this release are
a teaser of what's to come. We hope you find this as
refreshing a house record as we do.
A. Silky Mama - A classic house
vibe of tribal beats and piano keys, but not like you've
heard before. Soulrider creates a modern classic in
a style we can only coin as "tech-soul" that has DJ's
from all sides taking note. Just when you think you've
heard everything it has to offer…it takes you one step
further than the average tune.
AA. Luna Maduro - Reaching back
to his roots for inspiration, the salsa and meringue
soundtrack of his childhood is mixed with his own improvisational
touches, creating a fantastic journey for lovers of
what has become known as the "Body and Soul" sound.
